Venue update on Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 fixtures

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today confirmed the dates and venues for matches to be played in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32, which includes the announcement that Melbourne City’s encounter against Sydney FC will be held in Ballarat.

The regional Victorian city will host the highly anticipated all-Hyundai A-League clash at Morshead Park Stadium on Tuesday 12 August 2014 after an agreement between Melbourne City and Ballarat City Council.

Two venues will each host two matches in the Round of 32. Wanderers Oval (Magic Park) in the Newcastle suburb of Broadmeadow has been confirmed for the match between the Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory on Tuesday 5 August 2014, a week after Northern NSW Football side Broadmeadow Magic host Queensland NPL club Brisbane Strikers in the opening night of the competition.

Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide’s north east will also field two matches with South Australian Federation Cup champions Adelaide City’s game against Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday 12 August 2014 to be held at the venue after Adelaide United meet the Wellington Phoenix there a week earlier.

The confirmation of venues for the two matches featuring Western Australian NPL clubs Stirling Lions and Bayswater City against reigning Hyundai A-League champions Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory respectively are still being worked through by FFA, Football West and the participating clubs with regards to exploring venues that fulfil the relevant venue standards.

An announcement on the locations of these two fixtures will be made once they are finalised. Notably, to determine the locations for Westfield FFA Cup matches, each venue must be compliant with the Westfield FFA Cup Event and Match Day Standards, which includes quality of lighting.

Fox Sports, the official broadcast partner of the Westfield FFA Cup, will broadcast Broadmeadow Magic’s match against Brisbane Strikers LIVE at 7:30pm AEST on Tuesday 29 July 2014 and also provide crosses and single camera coverage of highlights of the other three matches being played on night one – South Springvale v South Cardiff, Manly United v Sydney Olympic and Olympic FC v Melbourne Knights.

Details surrounding broadcast, online streaming and highlights of the remaining 12 matches will be announced shortly.

Ticketing details for each match in the Round of 32 are available from each of the home clubs hosting matches or by contacting the relevant Member Federation.
