Manly United has competed in the NSW Premier League since 2004–05 when they were elevated after winning the Super League Division, never actually making it into the old – now defunct – NSL. The club was previously called Manly Warringah Dolphins, but changed its name in 2004 following promotion.

Qualification Route

Manly United qualified for the 2014 FFA Cup by reaching the Semi Final of New South Wales' Waratah Cup.  They defeated Northern Tigers in the playoff game in a penalty shootout.

In reaching the FFA Cup Round of 32, Manly United defeated APIA Leichhardt Tigers 2-0, Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2-1 and Northern Tigers 4-2 in a penalty shootout, after the game finished 1-1.

In the game against Northern Tigers, Manly United keeper Tonu Liiband was the hero of the evening and stole the headlines for his dramatic save and club captain Graeme Forbes netted home the winning spot kick that sent Manly United on their way to a famous victory and a chance to stage a huge FFA Cup clash against a possible Hyundai A-League side.
