The South Hobart Football Club is one of the oldest football clubs in Australia and celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2010. On the 21st May 1910 the first official game was played by South Hobart against Westralia at the newly opened South Hobart Ground. The result went in the home teams favour with a 4-1 win for the newly established Club.

The Club is one of the most successful Tasmanian clubs, having won the State Championship a record 15 times, as well as a remarkable 21 Southern titles, 11 KO Cups, 3 Statewide Knockout Cups and 6 Falkinder Cups. Although successful through their existence, they have only recently begun to again win trophies at the highest level. Head Coach Ken Morton joined the Club in 2008, and has since steered the Club to an unprecedented five consecutive Premier League trophies (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) and three State Finals (winning 2010, 2011 and 2012)—also capturing all five trophies on offer in the State in 2010 and 2011 (Statewide Cup, Southern Premier League, Statewide Lakoseljac Memorial Trophy, Summer Cup and the Steve Hudson Cup).

In 2013 South Hobart FC became inaugural National Premier League (NPL) Victory League Champions, winning the League by 15 points. South then went on to win the Victory Cup Final defeating Victory League Runners Up Devonport Strikers 1-3 in extra time. In another first, South defeated South Australian Finals Champion Campbelltown City in the NPL Finals Series Semi Final played at Darcy Street. South won 3-1, creating history for a Tasmanian Club and earned a place and a home final against Sydney Utd 58 FC. Although South lost the NPL Final 0-2 they did Tasmania proud.

Qualification Route

South Hobart qualified for the 2014 FFA Cup by winning the Statewide Lakoseljac Memorial Trophy, defeating Tilford Zebras 3-0 in the Final.

In reaching the FFA Cup Round of 32, South Hobart defeated Nelson E/S 11-1, Launceston City 3-1, Northern Rangers 5-1 and Tilford Zebras 3-0.
